Julian Javier Cadena

I was born in Colombia and brought up by a Spanish-speaking mother and an English-speaking father. At the age of nine I moved to the U.S., where I finished my education with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies. My love of communication and language justice led me to focus on translation as a tool for positive change.

How I Work

My method is thorough and detailed. I read the entirety of the text for tone and style, make sure I can define all terms, and then begin the process of translating ideas first. Subtleties of expression are taken into account and transformed into the final product.  My aim is for the final translation to read as if it were originally written in the target language.

My areas of specialization include:

Technical, Scientific, Academic

Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health

Language Justice, Civil Rights

Professional Qualifications and Memberships

ATA Certified Translator and Member (Spanish>English)

Carolina Association of Translators and Interpreters Member
